However, direct determination of shear wave velocity is costly and requires sophisticated technology in a noise-free environment. Therefore, in terms of two characteristic indicators, an investigation was conducted to systematize empirical equations for soil shear wave velocity. The N-value of the Standard Penetration Test and the depth of the soil are the indexes used. This study aims to develop an empirical correlation equation for Vs as a function of SPT-N and depth in the Dhaka Metropolitan Development Plan (DMDP) Area, which covers 1530 square kilometers in central Bangladesh. This was accomplished by analyzing 9334 data pairs for all soils where PS logging was used to determine P- and S-wave velocities. The uncorrected SPT-N value from 400 boreholes was used to determine the correlation. Since the empirical equation only comprised of metric indexes, it was easily deduced using well-known multivariate analysis, which was used in the past to develop empirical equations. The collected data were divided into three categories: all soils, clayey and silty soils and sandy soils. Following that, the DMDP area’s multiple regression equations were analyzed, and three-dimensional regression equation diagrams were produced.
